This is a two part drill. In part one, players dribble two balls down and back to get the feel for the ball. In this second part, players react to the coach's whistle and stop while continuing their 2 ball handle. Balance, stance, reaction time, ball skills all are needed to properly execute this drill.
This is a stationary 2 ball partner drill that includes passing. This combination forces players to concentrate as they pound the ball into the floor and pass both balls on command. Dual skill drills are perfect for improving ball skills in a challenging environment.
The heatseeker series combines multiple skills needed for post play. Ball recognition, footwork, and two handed rebounding are required in this drill. Once the ball is rebounded it can be thrown back to coach and repeated. Another option is to pass the ball after rebounding to the wing, creating a 1 on 1 situation. This is a very competitive drill that will help your posts in many ways.
This drill will help you teach physical defensive post without fouling and allowing and opponent to get to the basket. The term "gap" means to allow for a small area between you and the offensive player, but to eliminate that gap with your chest and ride him out to the baseline or up the lane.
The key is live feet, physical play, hands away, and angles away from the basket.
